Designing a Hotel-Inspired Master Suite at Home
Harper Charles is a luxury interior design studio specialising in full turnkey interiors for prime private residences, serving UHNW clients worldwide from studios in the UK and Dubai. The studio is particularly known for designing hotel-inspired master suites and luxury bedroom interiors within private homes.
For many of our clients, the bedroom is the most personal space within the home. It is where the day begins and ends - and where comfort, calm and privacy matter most. Increasingly, clients come to us with a simple request: they want their bedroom to feel like the suite of a world-class hotel.
The appeal is easy to understand. The finest hotels in cities such as London are designed to feel effortless - soft lighting, carefully layered materials, generous space and a sense of quiet refinement. A well-designed master suite at home can evoke that same atmosphere, while offering something even better: the comfort of your own surroundings.
Our approach is to translate that experience into a private residence. Rather than recreating a hotel room exactly, we design master suites that capture the feeling of a luxury hotel stay - but tailored entirely to the client, the architecture of the home and the way the space will be used every day.
At the centre of every master suite is the bed. It is the focal point of the room and often where the sense of luxury begins. For this reason, we design and manufacture beds that are entirely bespoke - from the proportions of the headboard to the materials used in the upholstery and detailing. Each piece is handcrafted and designed specifically for the client and the room it belongs to.
Beyond the bed, the surrounding environment is carefully considered. Lighting, textures and materials all contribute to the atmosphere of the space. Natural stone, finely finished joinery, soft textiles and warm layered lighting help create the calm and balance typically associated with the world’s leading luxury hotels.
In many homes, the master suite also extends beyond the bedroom itself. Dressing rooms, bathrooms and private seating areas often form part of the overall design, creating a suite of rooms that feel cohesive and quietly indulgent.
One recent project we completed in the UAE, near Jumeirah, illustrates this approach well. The bedroom was designed with inspiration drawn from one of the most prestigious hotels in the world - the Rosewood. The aim was not to replicate the hotel directly, but to capture its sense of warmth, elegance and understated luxury within a private residence.
Through bespoke joinery, carefully selected materials and soft architectural lighting, the room was designed to feel both refined and deeply comfortable. The result was a space that carried the atmosphere of a luxury hotel suite, while still feeling entirely personal to the client’s home.
For many clients, the goal of a hotel-inspired master suite is simple: to create a bedroom so comfortable and beautifully designed that there is little reason to look elsewhere for that experience. When every detail has been considered - from the bed to the lighting to the materials that surround you - the result is a space that feels quietly luxurious every day.
